post Job Search Engine Optimize Your Resume [Job Search]

October 31st, 2007

Filed under: Technology — admin @ 8:10 pm

Job hunters should choose their words carefully on their resume, says the blogger at The Life of an Internet Entrepreneur:

Just like there are ways of getting data on popular search words on Google, we can look at the most popular keyword searches by recruiters on job sites, and learn from that. Marc Cenedella, of TheLadders.com, a recruiting site that specializes in jobs paying $100,000 or more, wondered the same thing and developed a list of the 100 most-searched for terms by recruiters on the site.

Those words include “sales,” “project manager,” “software,” “developer,” and “marketing.” (It’s constantly updated, so it’s worth a bookmark.) Including those words on your resume (when they apply, even loosely) will make you turn up in recruiter searches more often. See more about how you can have a say in what Google says about you.

post Buffalo intros 19x DVD±R burner

October 31st, 2007

While the new Buffalo DVD burner can never compare to the wall-rattling speed of Samsung’s Super-WriteMaster (which blazes through your pirated software at 20x when hitting DVD±R discs), the 19x offering from the Japanese peripheral manufacturer ain’t too shabby. There’s not too much to get excited about beyond the burner’s adequately fast speeds, save for the ATAPI and SATA configurations and availability of white or black faceplates — which are sure to be a sweet match to even the most fashionable of desktops. The drive will be available in mid-November and will run you ¥6300 (about $55) for the SATA model, and ¥6900 (or $61) for the ATAPI configuration. [Warning: read link is in Japanese]

post LG’s UP3: the USB MP3 player for you, Captain Obvious

October 31st, 2007

Meet LG’s latest DAP, the UP3. That name gives a hint as to the device’s objective to double-up as both a USB drive and MP3 player. Of course, the vast majority of all MP3 players already do this — something apparently lost on LG’s marketing department. The all metal UP3 shares the stylings of their FM37 touch-screen player and comes packing 1GB, 2GB, 4GB of storage; an FM radio; MP3, WMA, and OGG audio and ASF video support; and an itty bitty OLED display of unspecified dimensions supporting 65,000 colors. 4GB will cost you just ₩84,000 (about $92) whenever these pop for retail.
